Picture of the Artist

An artist whose work is characterised by the use of various metals and resins, Elizabeth Lewis has developed the art of visualising potential in even the most unpromising and unlikely objects and of colouring and texturing resins to complement them.

Her Industrial Art consists of wall panels made for boardrooms and foyers of industrial premises, frequently utilising components produced by the companies concerned, as in the panels for the Rolls-Royce offices in England and France, the Minigrip Corporation of New York, and other manufacturers large and small.

Domestic Art is how she refers to the highly individual panels designed specifically for private residences, hanging in houses and collections throughout the world.

Her first consideration in the design of panels both for manufacturers and for private residences is that the piece produced is essentially a work of art, and also that the design must have relevance to its situation.  On closer examination of her work there is recognition of the components which have been used to build up the whole.

Elizabeth's Jewellery is produced in a very distinctive style, using metal pieces imaginatively set in resin.  She finds beauty not only in precious metals but also in copper, brass, bronze and stainless steel.

When not working on commissions, she indulges her love of ancient ethnic art forms, including South and Central American and Celtic, and bases some of her designs on these.  She also creates many panels based on wildlife forms.

Her work has been included in exhibitions in the Royal West of England Academy, the Royal Ulster Academy and private galleries throughout the United Kingdom.  She has also held solo exhibitions in the Home Counties, the Midlands, and Wales.
